Fitness & Health Programs

Health, wellness and nutrition are all elements of a balanced and positive lifestyle, and so we feature each in our One Step Beyond curriculum. We incorporate healthy physical activity and effective nutritional coaching into each day's activities, and also provide opportunities for specific areas of fitness. These include the following:

Participation in Special Olympics Athletic Programs and competitions year-round. As an official delegation through Special Olympics Arizona, One Step Beyond participates in regional aquatics, softball, soccer, bocce ball, bowling, basketball, track and field, flag football, and volleyball competitions. 

Special pricing for gym memberships. Our Community Partners at the Rio Vista Recreation Center (Peoria Campus Participants) and the Northwest Valley YMCA (Surprise Campus Participants) offer discounted rates for our programs to utilize their facilities for recreation and exercise. With different groups going each day of the week, each participant is able to access these facilities alongside peers and program staff to work-out.

Personally Fit Coaching for those with specific health and fitness goals. Thanks to the support of the Molly Lawson Foundation and the Fitness Institute of Arrowhead, we provide 1-on-1 coaching and nutrition support to individuals who are interested in losing weight, gaining stamina or endurance, and/or gaining muscle tone.
